LOAN BALANCES.
DISPOSAL OF SURPLUSES. The By-laws, Finance, and Departmental Committee of the Christchurch City -"Council reported to last night's meeting that the Act provided that if, on completion of the public work for which a special loan ha i been raised, it is found that any of the money raised is not required for the purpose for which it was raised, the money not so required shall be paid into the sinking fund or otherwise be applied towards the repayment of the loan. The committee, therefore, recommended that the following balances of loans not required for the purposes for which they were raised be so treated:— Linwood War public works loan— Balance, £l!87 8/1. North Linwood loan —Balance £3B 0/-. This was agreed to.
