The late Mr Fluety was bandmaster of the Sumner Band, and the Sumner Band, assisted by several members from Perry's and Woolston Bands, played a programme on the Sumner rotunda yesterday afternoon, when a collection was taken up in aid of the fund for Mis Fluety and family. Mrs Fluety has been left with four very young children, the oldest being only 10 years of age. She has no resources whatever. Mrs Fluety's father is Superintendent Carter, whose wife died some years ago, leaving him with eight young children. Mrs Fluety is the eldest of his family, and two of her brothers are at the war. The caso is one that should appeal to the generosity of the public, and the promoters of the movement hope that a liberal response will be made. Subscriptions will bo received at the Sun office.
