CHARGE OF MURDER.
WAIPAWA SENSATION. MAN KILLED WITH RAZOR. ACCUSED 80 YEARS OF AGE. Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 11. The police have been advised thai Patrick Keely, 80 years of age, was arrested at Waipawa yesterday on a * charge of murdering George Dodds, by cutting his throat on Saturday night. Keely has lived for some months in a whare on the bank of (lie Waipawa River, and latterly two middleaged casual labourers, George Dodds and James Wainwright, apparently wandering in search of work, have camped near by. Early yesterday morning, Wainwright reported to the police that the - three men had had a friendly chat on Saturday night, but later Keely came to the other men's hut, and rushing at Dodds, indicted fearful injuries with a knife, almost severivy the head from the body. li is further staled that the old man attacked Wainwright, inflicting wounds which, however, are not considered dangerous. INQUEST OPENED. PRISONER REMANDED. Press Association. WAIPAWA, December 11. An inquest regarding the death of Dodds was opened this morning, and after formal evidence of identification was adjourned for a week. Patrick Keily, charged with the murder, was remanded until Tuesday. December 19.
