STARLAND THEATRE.

"The Soul of New York," which is lo he shown at this week's evening sessions at Starland, is said to crown the Fox Corporation's previous efforts. The great American metropolis, the lights and shadows of its many phases of life, are all treated in this great masterpiece, which is in five reels. Valeska Suratt, another of Fox's stars, plays the leading role. In the part of Grace, an actress of dazzling beauty, but who is as heartless as a Carmen in her love affairs, Miss Suratt has scored a decided triumph. This enchantress so fascinates a young man that he neglects his business, and even steals to pay her debts. He learns at last, that the woman is only using him as a dupe, and that when his money is gone, she will discard him. While he is attempting to force a confession from her, she draws a revolver, and in the ensuing melee, she receives a bullet in the neck. The man is sentenced to a term of penal servitude for attempted murder, and when he is released, he leaves New York for Atlantic City. Here he meets Jane Meredith, a beautiful and noblehearlcd young woman, whom later he marries. His happiness is again broken by the re-entrance into his life of the woman who caused his downfall. She tries to get him back to her, but this time Fate intervenes, and the woman is seen to lapse into a fit of passion which causes her death. This photo-play is lavishly mounted and produced throughout, and no expense has been spared to make it a masterpiece. The day sessions feature is a Lasky production entitled "The Secret Sin," and starring Blanche Sweet.
