GERMANS CLAIM USE OF TANKS.
RUMANIANS COMPELLED TO LEAVE DEFENCES. Renter's Telegrams. (Received December 11, 9.15 a.m.) AMSTERDAM, December 10. A telegram from Berlin states that the Germans effectively used tanks in Rumania. They compelled the Rumanians to evacuate fortifications near Valeni (north of Ploesti). ENEMY CASTS HIS EYE ON GRANARIES. RUSSIAN ATTACKS GIVING HIM TROUBLE. Australian and N.Z Cable Association. (Received December 11, 11.15 a.m.) PARIS, December 10. M. Marcel Rutin, writing in the "Echo de Paris," states that the enemy's objective is to force the Buzeu line and to capture Braila and Galatz, where there are the largest corn granaries. In the meantime the Russians are causing the enemy uneasiness by attacks in Gyimos Pass and successes north of Dornawatra. BRITAIN WILL NOT HAVE PEACE. UNTIL OBJECTS OF WAR ARE ATTAINED. NEUTRAL INTERFERENCE AN IMPERTINENCE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received December 11, 9.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, December 10. At a meeting held to consider the prevention of the recurrence of war, Sir George Eulas Poster (formerly a Canadian Minister) said that Great Britain would not consider any suggestion of terminating the present conflict or brook any interference until the objects of the war had been attained. Other speakers deprecated neutral peace suggestions as impertinent.
