MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

TO-DAY'S CASES. Mr 11. VV. Bishop, S.M., sat at the Magistrate's Court to-day. CIVIL CASES. Jn each of the following eases judgment was given for the plaintiffs by default, with costs:—J. T. Brown v. Bassett and Co. v. A. Clark, £46 11/-; Pidgeon and Co. v. C. Robson, £5 2/11; Trade Auxiliary Co., Ltd., v. S. B. Briggs, £7 5/-; same v. 6. Thompson. 14/-; same v. J. W. Smith. A DISPUTED CLAIM. Ernest Audibert (Mr Williams), trading as A. Wilson and Co., claimed from Henry MeClellaud (Mr Bell) the sum of £2 13/-, for vulcanising tyres. The defendant had paid 15/- and costs into court. After hearing evidence as to the work done, the Magistrate gave judgment for the plaintiff for 40/- and costs. KAIAPO!. Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., presided at a sitting of the Kaiapoi Court this morning. Chas . Johnathan Earnshaw was charged with that, being separated from his wife, lie did molest, follow, and waylay her on a public road. Mr Donnelly appeared for the accused, who was ordered to stand down by the Magistrate, as he was telling lies, and did not speak a word that could be believed. As his wife pleaded for leniency, Earnshaw was given a chance, the Magistrate stating that if he came up again he would get three months' imprisonment. An information against Annie Atawell for failing to send her son to school was dismissed, conditionally upon the boy attending regularly in the future.

William Cowley, who had registered under the Defence Act since the summons for failing to render personal service had been issued, was fined 10/- and costs.

Alexander Caple, for a breach of a prohibition order, was fined 10/- and costs.

William T. Titana was charged with taking liquor into a Maori pa at Tauhiwi, and with committing a breach of a prohibition order. He was fined £5 and £3 11/- costs on the first charge, and convicted and discharged on the. second.
