j The Fire Brigade received a call a$ 3.7 this afternoon to 193 River Road, I Richmond, where a macroearpa hedge ; was found to be ~u tin*. Little damage 1 j was done. At the Auckland Police Court to-dav, Frederick Webb, a fireman on the Ruahine. was charged that he smuggled 18 table knives, and was in possession of other knives, valued at £::2. being du- : tiable goods. He pleaded guilty, and was fined £IOO, whi.-h the Magistrate reduced to £25. The annual Tyndale Divinitv examination was held yesterday at the Christ's College L'pper School. ' The examination was conducted l.v the Rev. Bryan Brown. The successful candidates i were:—Clifford A. R. Brunt 96 points. Denys P. R. Brunt it'i. Frank T. Godfrey sio. This is the third vear in succession that C. a. R. Brunt has been successful in obtaining the prize. : Hi connection with the davlight saving scheme at Gishorne the Labour Department has advised that it will place no obstacles in the war, sava a Press Association message. It" is proposed to bring the scheme into operation on January 1. The Borough Council advertised its intention to do so, and called for objections, but there has been none so t a r.
