ORDER MADE FOR WAGES. j At the Magistrate's Court to-day, I Mary .Juno Woodcock sued Benjamin I Bronkhorst for £l6 G/6 wages due. IMr T. VV. Howe, for the judgment creditor, said thnl judgment had been 'given in September of last year. Examined as to his means, debtor .said that be was an advertising (agent, a position which he bad only I recently obtained. His wages were I'! a week. His wife received 7/6 ! alimony from her divorced husband. | An order for the payment of £1 ; a montb was made, in default 16 weeks' imprisonment. MOTOR CYCLE ACCIDENT AFTERMATH.

From William Alfred Flavell, Alfred Bray claimed £llß 11/6, the amount of damages and costs given against him in connection with a motor-cycle accident. The debtor stated that he was married, but bad no children. He was a draper's assistant and earned £3 a week. Board for himself and wife cost 1:2 a week. He bad sold bis interest in the motor cycle for £ls.

An order was made for the payment of 10/- a week. Mr T. W. Howe appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Thomas for the debtor. A SIMMONS WITHDRAWN.

F. I). Kestevcn (Mr Thomas) sued John James Tudhope (Mr Donnelly) for £27 11/10 on a judgment given on November 2 last. Mr Donnelly said that Kesteven had accepted, last October, an offer from debtor to pay 2/- a week. Mr Thomas said that, evidently, a mistake had been made in Mr Kesteven's office in issuing the summons.

After inquiries had been made by Mr Thomas the summons was withdrawn, and 21/- costs given against the plaintiff. STANDARD OF £3. Andrews, Baty and Co., Ltd. (Mr Williams) asked for an order against Arthur Bull (Mr Cassidy), for the payment of £l4 19/0. Debtor, a tram guard, said that he had a wife and two children. His wages averaged £2 18/- a week. His Worship declined to make an order, as he had laid down a standard of £3 a week in these cases. Mr Cassidy's application for costs was refused. A PUBLICAN'S LOAN.

Jacob Henry Reynolds did not appear to answer Benjamin Perry's application for an order for the payment of £3 11/6 (money lent). The order was made for payment forthwith, in default three days. A LABOURER'S RESPONSIBILITIES.

Edwards Adams said that he could not pay anything off an account of £3 8/6 owing to Adams Ltd. (Mr Williams). He was a labourer at Lyttelton, earning an average of £2 a week, and had a wife and nine children. No order was made. INDISCRIMINATE CREDIT.

William Paton appeared in person to examine Alfred Ringdale as to his ability to pay £4 14/10 owing to him. The debtor said he had a family of nine and earned £3 a week.

The Magistrate (to the creditor): How in the name of Fortune can you expect a man with nine of a family and earning £3 a week to pay this amount?

Paton asked if the Magistrate was going to encourage such men to live on the public. "You shouldn't give these people credit. It's your own fault if you allow them to run up bills and then find that you can't get your money. You people show no discrimination whatever. I cannot make an order." NO APPEARANCE.

Thomas M. Brody, who did not appear, was ordered to pay J. and A. W. Munnings £4 17/2 forthwith, in default four days' imprisonment.
