ATTACK ON FUNCHAL.
THREE VESSELS SUNK. J THE TOWN BOMBARDED. Unitid Service. LONDON, December 7. Tlie Portuguese Minister of Marino announces that German submarines attacked Funehal, in the Madeira Isi lands, and sank the auxiliary vessel Kangaroo, the English steamer Dacia, ' and the French gunboat Surprise. They then bombarded the town for two hours from a distance of two ! miles. The coastal batteries forced | the submarines to withdraw. The commander and 34 of the crew of the Surprise perished, also la few Portuguese who were aboard the Kangaroo and the Dacia.
