RANGIORA COUNTY.
a The Rangiora County Council met this morning, there being present: Messrs F. Horrell, A. Mcintosh, L. \V. Champion, W. Stalker, H. Tollatt, and It. Garrett, Before the general business was pro ceeded with, the council held its statutory half-yearly meeting. Mr Horrell was re-elected chairman for the ensuing year. Proceeding to general business, the council adopted the recommendation of a special committee, that the formation of Edwards Road be proceeded with. A grant of £25 was made to the Belgian Children's Christmas Fund, and one of £2 2/- to the Southbrook Fire Brigade. After discussing a letter from the Department of Agriculture, which asked for a list of the six most noxious weeds in the" county, the council drew up a list of five weeds, these being California!] thistle, ox-eyed daisy, barley grass, blackberry, and loco weed. An offer from Mr Gorge Kdwards for the purchase of the.council's cottage at ! Woodend, at £:S80, was left to the chairman and Cr Stalker to deal with. Mr R. Day was appointed pound- i keeper at Woodend. I The tender of Mr .1. W. Boggets for i grass-seeding in the Cust and Rangiora j j Ridings was accepted. ] A financial statement for the past ] half-year showed that the general ac- j count has a debit balance of £9O 17/10, , the. Rangiora Riding account: a debit of j £772 7/1, and the Cust Riding account a debit of £250 17/5.
