LABOUR SUPPORTS AN ENERGETIC POLICY.
WILL FOLLOW ANY VIGOROUS PREMIER. RECOMMENDS CONTROL OF FOOD SUPPLY. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received December 8, 1.15 p.m.) LONDON, December 7. The National Labour Coimcil carried a resolution asking the Government to purchase all imported essential foodstuffs, to commandeer or control home products and ships, and to place foodstuffs on the retail markets at prices benefiting the consumer. The feeling of the conference, while favouring Mr Asquith's leadership, made it perfectly clear that they were prepared to serve any Prime Minister who will vigorously prosecute the war. Subsequently Messrs Arthur Henderson, Ramsay Mac Donald, J. o'Grady, Philip Snowden, and Will Thorne, representing the Council, held a lengthy conference with Mr Lloyd George.
LABOUR'S REPRESENTATION IN MINISTRY. MR LLOYD GEORGE OFFERS FOUR SEATS. United Service. (Received December 8, 1.15 p.m.) LONDON, December 7. It is believed that Mr Lloyd George has offered Mr Arthur Henderson a seat in the small inner Cabinet, with three Labour members in subordinate positions.
