The Waimakariri Harbour Board held its monthly meeting in the Council Chambers "on Monday evening, Mr Doubleday presiding. The harbourmaster's report gave the depth of water on the bar Oft 2in up to November 22, since when there had been two or three freshes, which would alter the depth a little. The bar was very wide, and working south. The channel below Kairaki shows 7ft 3in to 7ft 6in at high-water .moderate tides. The surveyor's report was received and adopted, and it was decided to extend the days of grace for payment of rates for one week, all rates then outstanding to be sued for. The Lighting Committee reported that it had decided to hold over the appointment of an expert for the electric lighting in the meantime, and that it had decided to ask the finance Committee to ascertain at what rate the necessary finance for the electrical scheme could be obtained.
