WOMEN POLICE.

A meeting was held to day, under the auspices of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, to consider the need for the appointment of women police. About 10(1 people were present, the majority being la'dies. A motion was carried urging tlie Minister of Justice to immediately appoint women police. Another motion was carried urging the appointment in every centre of women ns protectors anil advisers of young women and children, with the authority and standing of justices of the peace, such protectors to be authorised to attend all Courts in eases where a woman or child is concerned, and to intervene it' it is considered desirable.
