Lord Nortbeliffe, in a statement to the United Press Agency, said:—-‘‘Mr Lloyd George has given the knock-out to a gang of aged or inept mediocrities, who have prevented the British Empire from exerting its full force in the war. Whatever happens, these malevolents cannot get together again. Whatever Government arises, it cannot but be an improvement on that which has disappeared. ‘‘Mr Lloyd George is one of the few British statesmen who understands the United States. I look for good relations between Great Britain and the Republic as the result of his forceful action yesterday. “Mr Bonar Law is a safe man. If he becomes Prime Minister he will be the first Canadian to achieve an honour equal in dignity and importance to that of your President.” RUMANIANS RETIRING ON BUCHAREST.
