SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
UPPER RICCARTON. The Upper Riccarton School Committee met on Monday night, there being present:—-Messrs Forsyth (Chairman), Raxworthy, Lang. Eaton, O'Loughlan, Clarke, Ellis, Bucknell, and Chainey. Mr Johanson having resigned Mr W. Eaton was appointed to the vacancy. The head master's report showed the average attendance to be 219, out of a roll number of 240. The examination of Standard IV had taken place. MiBaker examined the children of Standard II and intended to examine Standard lat a later date. The division fence between the school grounds and Mr Bowman's property being in very bad order, the chairman was instructed to write to the board and inform it of the condition of the fence, which required immediate attention, otherwise serious damage might be done to the shrubbery, etc. The Bath Committee reported that the swimming hath was in good order, and was ready for patrons. The rules and regulations drawn up by the committee were adopted. It was reported that the children were making good progress with the Red Cross work, and they were complimented by the committee upon their splendid efforts. II was decided to hold a special meeting to consider business in connection with the annual picnic.
