RANGIORA BOROUGH.
MEETING OF COUNCIL. The Rangiora Borough Council met on Friday evening, there being present:— The Mayor (Mr C. I. Jennings) and Crs C. Ayers, H. Boyd, W. Blackett, F. B. Lane, C. C. Paterson, W. McGruer, W. A. Rowse, and W. J. Rouse. The Mayor made reference to the death of Private Baird, from wounds, and a motion of sympathy with his relatives was carried. The resignation of Cr W. L. Jamieson, owing to his departure for the North Island, was received and accepted. The returning officer stated that he had made arrangements for the election to fill the vacancy, to take place on December 7. The town clerk (Mr Amy) was granted a fortnight's holiday leave.
