MAIREHAU.
In "spite of the fact that the Mairehau Hall has been recently enlarged, it was taxed to its utmost capacity to hold the crowd which assembled to bid "au revoir" to Private .J. N. Meynell last Thursday night. During the first part of the evening a concert programme was contributed by Mesdames Brown, Hughes, Whitmore, Misses Law, Emmett, Fuller, Hughes, Parish, R. Fuller, E. Beck, and M. Fuller, and Messrs Lewis Wilson, Bale, Whitmore, an I McDonald. At the conclusion of the programme, Mr W. J. Walter, on behalf of the residents of Mairehau, presented Private Meynell with a case of pipes and a tobacco pouch, bearing the following inscription:—"Presented to Private .). N. "Meynell, from the public of Mairehau, 16/11/16." In making the presentation, Mr Walter spoke in the highest praise of Mr Meynell's character, and wished him God-speed, good luck, and a safe return. Cheers were given for the guest. Dancing was then indulged in to a late hour. Mr A. T. Fuller supplied the music, and extras were played Miss Doris Beck, Messrs Bale and Whitmore. 'Mr .1.
