AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

TECHNICAL COLLEGE SPORTS. Ah hough the general average of in.'lit of the performances a! the annua! sports of the Christchun-h Technical College, held at Lancaster I'ark voter day, was not quite up to that of the few years past, there was the satisfving feature of large fields ami keen c petition. The progamme was nut quite completed vesterdny, one of the girls' events —the relay race—an 1 oik 1 of the bovs' competitions—the high jump—being held over until next week. Until the high jump has been decided, the bovs' points championship cup cannot be alio rated, for two competitors, 11. Ford ■Mid P. Winskill, are level in the com petition, with P: points each. ('. Ward is third, with eight points. Contrary to the usual practice, the scale of points to count in this conn-.' ition is such that first place in any event is worth only one point more than seeon.l place, and there is a similarly slight margin between second and third. IT lie scale of points generally adopted in athletics were in voirue at the Christchurch Technical College, Ford would be leading for the cup, as he has gain--,i ♦>,!,.~ fusts and two seconds, against WinskiH's one first, four seconds, and two thirds. Viewing the matter from .•mother aspect, it may be noted that Ford find Winskill were both "placed" in the five championship track events. Ford finished ahead of "Winskill in four of them, and was second to Winskill in the other. The results of the events decided after The Sv.v went to press are:— BOYS' EVENTS.
