CRICKET.

THE CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association was held last evening. Present: Messrs A. Cant (in the chair), D. Redpath, E. E. Luttrell, W. H. Winsor, C. S. Thompson, W. S. Simpson, and R. B. Ward. A letter was received from the City and Suburban Cricket Association, forwarding the resolution, carried at a special meeting held last Thursday evening of its Management Committee, to the effect that it thanked the Canterbury Association for its offer of co-operation, but regretted that it could not avail itself of that offer, and asked the Canterbury Association to arrange, if possible, for two or three friendly matches during the season. The letter was received. Mr W. H. Winsor remarked that the president of the City and Suburban Association had made some statements which would have been replied to if it had not been desired that the matter of co-operation should be approached in as amicable a way as possible. The chairman said there was no need to take any notice of what had been said. He did not look upon the City and Suburban Association as a rival association.

Mr Simpson: We've done all we could with the City and Suburban Association, and I think we can let the matter drop quietly. A request from the Domains Board, that the association should suspend all grade matches on December 2, the date of the board's rose fete for the benefit of the soldiers' departments under the control of the Citizens' Defence Corps, was acceded to.

On the motion of Mr Ward, it was decided to recommend the New Zealand Cricket Council to forgo its subscriptions from allilialed associations for the coming season. The committee decided, in order to lighten the burden on clubs, to refund to the clubs the subscription fees payable by them for the coming season.

The general meeting of delegates, to consider the form in which the competitions should be carried on during the coming season, was fixed for next Monday evening at half-past seven.

The committee's recommendation to that meeting will be that the competitions be carried on on exactly the same lines as last season's.
