CONGRATULATIONS.
FROM GENERAL JOFFRE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. PARIS, October 3. General Joffre, in an order of the day, congratulates the Somme Army, and says that it has dealt blows from which the enemy will find it as hard to recover as from Verdun. The enemy has been cleared from 25 villages how recovered to the Allies, 35,000 men have been taken prisoner, and 150 cannon captured.
