THE ZEPPELIN RAID.

FOURTEEN TAKE PART.

THE DESTROYED AIRSHIP.

Australian and N.Z. Cable Associatitn. LONDON, October 2. A Dutch report says that 14 Zeppelins participated in the raid. Spectators narrate that the Zeppelin at Potter's Bar was doomed directly it was caught in the maze of searchlights. It sent out dense clouds of smoke without avail, followed by a shower of bombs, as though seeking to lighten itself. Thirty-nine bombs fell harmlessly in - a small area, and then an aeroplane—some say two—was seen approaching her. A brilliant light indicated the igni[ion of one of the Zeppelin's gasbags. The flames ran along the monster, and the blaze was visible within a circuit of GO miles. The Zeppelin fell split in three or four pieces. The searchlights never left the airship until she reached the earth. Some of the crew, realising their doom, jumped out from the gondolas. One lived long enough to ask for water. Other bodies of the crew were terribly mangled. Seventeen have already been found. The Zeppelin was of the newest type, presenting a small target. ZEPPELIN DESTROYER. A NEW AEROPLANE.
