BRITISH DASH.

CHARGING THE GERMANS. AID OF THE "TANKS." Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. PARIS, October 3. The British infantry advanced with characteristic spirit to the capture of Eaucourt l'Abbaye. The "tanks" greatly aided them, and their objective was attained in less than two hours. The hottest fighting was at Eaucourt, where the Germans, barricaded in the ruins, fought with desperate courage, but the British at the charge went full tilt at two Hanoverian battalions holding the northwest corner of the village and drove them out. Our gunners did the rest, inflicting heavy losses on the retreating enemy. Two enemy companies were cut off and taken prisoner, near the Flers road. Finally the British established their lines on the Wanlcncourt Hill, the last eminence hiding Baupaume from direct view.
