Investigations in hand indicate a ; gigantic scheme of "graft" between I the New York police and white : slavers. The grand jury has returned indictments against five detectives charged with bribery. All were attached to the tender(loin district, and had been engaged ■ in fighting the white slavers. The prosecutor has promised startling disclosures. j The investigation is the outcome of I a grand ball for which the "tenderloiners" were compelled to purchase large blocks of tickets. It is alleged that the police participated in the ; proceeds.
