ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The General Committee of the Cantorbury and West Coast Centre of the St. John Ambulance Association met last evening, Mr A. E. G. Rhodes in the chair. The draft of the report and balancesheet, to be presented at the annual meeting, was discussed. The chairman and Lieutenant-Colonel Cressvell were appointed a committee, to arrange for the annual meeting, to be held on July 25. The Rev. Mr Blair, of Tjoeston, wrote in reference to the organising of classes in the Leeston district. The chairman and secretary were authorised to interview Mr Blair on the matter. A request was received from the Tiinaru subcommittee, asking that Temuka should be permitted to institute a mixed class, there not being a sufficient number to form classes for each se:c. The request was referred to the chairman and secretary. It was decided to inform the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board that the association's stretchers were not to be used for the conveyance of infectious cases. The secretary stated that the training given by the association was being availed of by a. large number of people. There were two well-attended classes being held that evening, and an examination was being carried on at the Choral Hall. Unfortunately, this could not continue for ever, as a loss had been incurred on last j'ear's operations, owing to the falling-off in donations. It was reported that the credit balance at the Post Oflice Savings Bank was £2-40 9/8.
