LONDON WOOL SALES. By Gable. — Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, May 5. Wool sold on Home market totalled ! 80,000 bales; on Continent, 0000; held, 7000. 'Hie markets closed very strong compared with the March sales closing. Choicest merinos advanced 5 per cent., medium 10 per cent., and faulty 10 per cent, to 15 per cent. The Russians are still taking good scoureds, otherwise all merinos are taken for the Home trade. Fine crossbreds advanced id, coarse Id, medium Id, scoureds fully 5 per cent, slipes Id, and all lambs 7.] per cent. There was a confident market and the widest Home competition throughout. The following prices were obtained for the New Zealand clips named:—Craigmore, top price 19d, average 171 d; Burling, 19d and 183 d; Paparatu, 17id and 17Jd. WHEAT AND FLOUR. LONDON, May 0. A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE. LONDON, May 7. The Board of Trade returns for AprU, issued to-day, show that, compared with April of last year the value of imports into Britain increased by £2,04G,780, and exports by £4,048,100.
