LATE NEWS

About 150 children attending schools in and around Christchurch are spending a part of the midwinter holidays in patriotic work in Timaru. Banded together.as the Patriotic Pantomime Company, under the direction of Mr VV. y. Wauchop and Miss Menzies, they left Christchureh by the first express for the south to-day, to give three performances in Timaru in aid of the Rod Cross Fund. They are of ages ranging from seven years to 15 years. The children arc being well looked after, and are being billeted by various residents of Timaru. Through the forethought of Mr E. (Mark, each child was handed this morning a bag of fruit and confectionery, given by various firms in the city, to make the train journey more pleasant. The children will return on Friday or Saturday.
