A general order issued by headquarters of the Defence Forces" states that it is considered advisable in future to discharge from the Expeditionary land as convalescents after dysentery or enteric fever as soon as they are medically fit. Experience lias proved that retaining these men on full pay on long periods of sick leave and returning them to duty at camp, merely results in their being unable to stand the training and having eventually to be discharged. Cases of nursing sisters or officers, however, will be considered on their merits, Over 100 Victoria Crosses have been fiwardcd in this war.
