LATE PERSONALS.
Mr C. E. Jones, of Messrs Craddock McCrostie Co., leaves on Wednesday for Sydney for a month's holiday. Mr W. C. Parkinson, magnetic observer to the Carnegie Institute, expects to be leaving for Australia at the end of this week, lie will probably compare his instruments with those of the Melbourne Observatory. This will give a good indirect comparison between the conditions in Christchurch and Melbourne.
