There was only a moderate attendance of the public at Lancaster Park, where three of the first grade games were played, the dull, cool weal her. although excellent for playing football, not being conducive to large attendances, especially at the beginning of the season. | In the first grade wins were scored by Old Hoys, Merivale, and Marists. A fifth game, between Christchurch B and'Bclfasl, was to have been played, but Christ church was unable to get a team together.
