These lectures have attracted large audiences throughout the principle cities of the Dominion. When an apology for absence was received at the Domains Board meeting yesterday from Mr W. H. Cooper, a representative of the City Council, the chairman (Mr H. J. Beswick), said that Mr Cooper had not attended a meeting for six months. It was a' ridiculous position. In a case such as this the board should be empowered by law to declare a seat vacant. Later,' during the election of committees, the question of irregular attendance again cropped up. "I am afraid one or two of the council representatives take their duties rather lightly," said the Mavor. "I will obtain a list of attendances for the information of the City Council.
