TECHNICAL COLLEGE.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The monthly meeting of the Board of Governors of the Technical College was held last night, there being present:—Messrs G. Scott (chairman), W. Havward, J. R. Hay ward, A. Williams, W. W. Charters, 11. R. Rusbridge, J. Bulterfield, J. J. Graham, W. Bell, F. Burgoyne, S. Bullock, W. H. Cooper, C. H. Opie, S. C, Owen, B. Seth-Smith, and G. E. Goodwin. The chairman in a special memorandum dealt with the present financial aspect of technical education. It was decided to invoke the assistance of public bodies in bringing he matter before the Government. Messrs W. F. Cooper and J. 1). tall wrote tendering their resignaions as members of the board, Mr '.ooper explaining that he was compiled to adopt that course because A' failing health. 11 was decided to accept the resignation with regret, and to place on record the board's appreciation of the services rendered by Mr Cooper during bis membership. The Amalgamated Society of Engineers wrote congratulating the board on the excellence of the work done in the engineering classes at the college. The Christchurch Painters' Union wrote stating that it had been decided to transfer the painters' classes lo the School of Art because of the greater facilities offered. The Chamber of Commerce forwarded £ls 15/- and the School Committees' Association t'l 1/- to the funds.
