GALLANT FUSILIERS.
ENEMY TRENCHES CAPTURED. GERMANS ADMIT LOSS. LONDON, March 28. Sir Douglas Haig reports:— "We were successful in crater lighting near the Hohenzollcrn Hedoubt. "The enemy opposite Huiluch exploded mines, damaging our trenches. We established ourselves in the craters. "The Northumberland Fusiliers and the Royal Fusiliers, after a mine explosion, assaulted the German salient at SI. Eloi (south of Ypres), successfully taking the front and second line trenches along a front of HOO yards. The enemy sustained heavy casualties." The High Commissioner reports: LONDON, March 28. South of Neuville-St. Vaast, and near the Hohenzollcrn Redoubt, there has been .successful crater fighting. Opposite Huiluch, the enemy exploded iiiines, damaging our Trenches. We hold the crater formed. After mine explosions, British infantry assaulted a German salient at St. Eloi, successfully taking front and second line trenches on a front of 600 yards. The enemy suffered heavy casualties. Two officers and IGB men were taken prisoner. LONDON, March 27. A German wireless message says: "A British mine damaged our position at SI. Eloi, south of Ypres, blowing up over 100 yards of trenches and causing casualties. "The English again shelled Lens."
