Sandrey, the guilds was enabled to - expend some -£8 in purchasing material for making up 3Jed Cross articles. 'A. heavy case, recently forwarded to they Defence Stores,; Wellington," to be sent' to the new hospital for ISTew Zealandjers , at Port Said; contained .the -following g'oods:—l6' flannel shirts, 11' Union shirts, 4 body : binders,-5 manitail. baaidages, 3 fomentation -wringers, ;6,.hot-water-bag covers, 5 ic'ebags, 28' toilet I squares, 40 -operation; feloths,-100 medi- ' cine cloths, 13 flannel - - co bandages,- -16', pairs "socks,." 10 pairs slippers, 20 traycloths ancbservie'fctes, 8 draw-sheets, 4 pairs bed- socks,, -16 -pillow ! cases, and a quantity of magazines and ; other reading matter."-'ln--view of the provisions of the recently-passed War Act,' the guild has already secured "the hearty approval of th£ Patriotic Fund Executive for the' continuance of y its > good work, and it is now : seeking "'the further permission of the chairman'of I the Springs-County Council. .FOB.- THE WOUNDED. Mr F. W. Thompson will give a demonstration of his leg slings, crutches, and two stretchers, at the Chamber of Commerce Building, Cathedral Square, at 8 o'clock on Saturday. His Worship the Mayor will preside. A cordial invitation to be present is given to all Red Cross workers > and others 1 interested. MEETING, AT. CASHMERE. A Red Cross meeting was held in the church schoolroom, Cashmere, last evening', to form a committee to canvass the district for regular subscriptions to the Red Cross Fund. Mr Guise Brittan presided over a Jail- attendance. Mi- J. A. Flesher, deputy-chairman of the Central Executive, gave an address on the importance of Red Cross work, and answered a number of questions. It/ was decided an attempt' should be made to assist the movement, and a committee was appointed to make all arrangements, Mr J. A. Pannett being elected chairman, and Mr Bricknell secretary, and treasurer.
