I A malefirst offender was. .charged With being found drunk in Manchester Street, and with wilfully breaking a cab. window valued at .7/6,, the property of Ruth Douglas. - v . Accused: I don't remember anything. The accused'was fined 5/-.and ordered to pay 7/6, the cost of the damage to the window, or, in default, seven days' imprisonment. • . One female first offender was fined 5/- or, in default, 24 hours' imprisonment, for being found drunk. ? " Two male first offenders were also charged with being found drunk. The accused was convicted and discharged on both charges. - SUPPLYING LIQUOR., James Luke plea!ded guilty to a charge of supplying liquor to a s prohibited person.-Senior-Sergeant Mathieson said that the accused had, supplied liquor to a, woman named Mary Wilson. Wilson's husband iiad prohibited both, himself and his wife, to keep themselves away from the temptation of drink. While the husband was away, however, the accused had taken 2/- worth of whisky to the house, and when the husband returned he found his wife helplessly drunk on the floor. . Mr Bishop: I cannot understand a man stooping to a dirty, mean, contemptible trick like this. I know of nothing more contemptible than a thing like this. You are fined £5 or, in default, one month 's imprisonment. ■ CIVIL CASES. Judgment for the plaintiff'by default, with costs, was given in each of the following cases:—Trustees for Thomas Henshall &. Son v. Arthur Boxall, £3 19/1; Richard W. Anderson v. Henry J. Smith, £1 2/6; Herbert Wright v. William- Taylor, £4 11/-. A DEAL IN CHAFF. Thomas Davidson, a farmer, of Teinpleton (Mr Cassidy), claimed the sum of £2B 15/3 from Messrs Field and Royds (Mr Rowse) for chaff supplied. The defendant submitted that the chaff supplied to them was not of fair average quality. After hearing evidence the Magistrate gave judgment for the plaintiff for £l4 7/7,
