TO-DAY'S CASES. Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., presided over a sitting of the Police Court this morning. DRUNKENNESS. Arthur Butterfield appeared on remand, on a charge of being found in a state of helpless drunkenness in York Street on October 21. Mr Bishop: Is he all right now? Senior-Sergt. Mathieson: Oh! he's not all right, your Worship, but he's better. I would ask for a further remand. Mr Bishop: He is remanded for a week. BICYCLE THEFT. John Louis Watson pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a bicycle, valued at £6 10/-, the property of Peter Bobertson. Chief-Detective Herbert said that Watson was boarding in the same house as Robertson, and on October 13 he stole the bicycle and sold it for £3. Mr Bishop: Has he any record? Chief-Detective Herbert: We cannot find much about him, but what we do know is not very satisfactory. It seems to me a case in which he should be remanded for sentence, pending further enquiries. Accused was remanded for a week for sentence. THEFT OF JEWELLERY. Katherine Waugh, 20 years of age, appeared on remand from Wellington, on a charge of stealing, at Christchurch, on October 14, one diamond ring, valued at £7 10/-, the property of Edith Kirkpatrick. ' Accused pleaded guilty. Chief-Detective Herbert stated that Waugh was staying with some friends in -: Christchurch. She stole the ring," and pawned it for £l. Mr Bishop': Have you any record?
