FOUR SOLDIERS INJURED.

STRUCK BY TABLET EXCHANGER Press Association. AUCKLAND, October 12. An accident resulting in grave injuries to one of the Auckland recruits who left for Trentham by today's special troop train,, serious - injury to an other, and minor injuries to two others, occurred as the train was passing through Taupiri Station at about 6 p.m. . The names of the . men hurl are:— Private Samuel McGee, dangerous injuries to right side of head. ~ Private Alexander Hyland, serious ,„ laceration of left arm. Private Walter W. Chitty, minor injuries. Private Thomas Turner, minor injuries. The four men named were looking out of the train at the time, and were struck by the arm of a tablet exchanger which, for some unexplained reason, had failed to work. Hyland .was standing on the platform of the train, and McGee was at a window of the same carriage. Both were leaning out, and were struck by the iron arm of the apparatus be- < fore they could draw back. The other two men are believed to have seen the danger in time to avoid s.erious hurt. McGee and Hyland were too seriously Injured to continue their journey, and were taken.off?ai ■■ Franklon Junction and conveyed to the Hamilton Hospital.'
