ROBBERS SHOOT STARVING PEOPLE.

The captain of the steamer Empire, which was recently at Horig Kong, estimates that 10,000 people in Canton recently perished by fire alone, including 1000 soldiers engaged in rescue work. Some 2500 shops were destroyed. Robbers attacked the starving escapees, shooting them down like animals when they found that they were destitute.
