WAR PENSIONS BILL.
PARLIAMENT TO-DAY.
[From our own Parliamentary Keporter.] WELLINGTON, August 3. '
The first item on the Order Paper for to-day is the recommittal of the War Pensions Bill. It will be remembered that the Bill was referred back to the Secret Defence Committee for reconsideration of the question of pensions to be paid to the illegitimate children of soldiers who might marry the mother of the children after having returned to the Dominion permanently disabled, together with several other questions. Tliose members who have been opposed to the provisions of the Bill so far are, it is understood, willing to abide by the decision of the Defence Committee, whatever it , might be, and allow the Bill to pas;? thrpugh the committee stage without any further obstruction. ■
Should the committee's recommendations not fall in with their own views, they may, possibly, have something to say on the third reading, so as to have their views recorded in "Hansard.".
, This Bill is really the only important business on the Order Paper for to-day.
