COMPETITION WITH PANAMA. CHARGES MUST BE REDUCED. By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. PAEIS, June 10. At a meeting of the Suez Canal Company, the president, M. Jonnart, reported that the prospects were good. The, competition of the Panama Canal would have a slight effect, but it would probably prove supplementary rather than competitive. None the less, it would be necessary to reduce the Suez traffic charges to those of the Panama Canal, and to undertake work to enable ships of larger tonnage to use the Canal.
