FIRE ON STEAMER.
CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE. l'reas Associdlion. ' DUNEDIN, June 11. A fire was discovered on the Poherua at v the wharf at midday. It started in the lamp room, a number of lamps being rendered useless. The paint work on.the cabins on each side was also blistered. The fire spread to the bridge, but it was then discovered and promptly - extinguished. The extent of the damage is not yet available. Later. The damage on the Poherua is very small. The vessel is expected, to sail for Westport this afternoon.
