THE COUNCIL'S SHOP.
FOR ELECTRICAL FITTINGS.
WHAT IS COST PRICE? The Mayor, in conversation with a SUN representative, referred to the prothe City Council to open a showroom in the City where electrical fittings would be on sale. THE!, SUN had editorially commented on,the suggestion that * certain electrical goods should be supplied by the at cost price, in order to encourage the use of electricity, and pointed out that this would involve serious competition, with private firms. The Mayor said that the Council had no idea of supplying the goods at less than cost price, which would include the running of the showroom and every charge connected with the sale and distribution. It would be an ordinary business proposition, and the\ council; would charge a price which would cover all expenses. Thare would be no loss made on the concern.
The Mayor added that the showroom would be opened for the convenience of the public. The consumers would call at the shop monthly to pay their accounts, and they would be able to purchase what they required in the way of electrical goods at a reasonable price.
