FARMERS' UNION.
HAREWOOD. A meeting of the Harewood branch was held last evening, and it was decided to send forward the following remits to the provincial conference on the 28th and 29th inst,:— (I) That the conference be urged to protest against the action of woolbuyers in demanding that farmers forfeit lib of wool per cwt in each bale. (2) That the Government be urged to put aside one or more sections in each block of land subdivided for ballot by qualiiied farm labourers only. (3) That the executive urge upon merchants the necessity for supplying farmers with sacks made of better material, of better workmanship, and of uniform size. (4) That the Government be urged to provide more small sections in country districts (a) to provide more workers with the means of living, and thus relieve the congestion in'town population, '(b) provide more workers in the country districts, and (c) lessen the number of unemployed and add to the development of the country.
