DROWNED IN A RIVER.

GISBORNE, March 31. At the inquest on the man drowned near Tuparoa, deceased's identity was established as James Turner, who came to the district a few months ago with a Swede named Schroder. The two men were returning to their camp, crawling along a lengthy .flood' gate. When in the middle of the gate Turner fell into the flooded stream, and Schroder unsuc : cessfully tried to rescue him. A verdictr of accidentally drowned was returned.
