PARLIAMENTARY BUT—
NOT FIT FOR TAKAPUNA Language used in Parliament is not always fit for the Takapuna Borough Council. At a meeting last evening, Mr. J. Guiniven wrote suggesting a new method of calling tenders, ending with a plea for system “in this sleepy old council here.” “I consider those words should not have been used,” said the Mayor, Mr. J. W. Williamson, calling attention to a section of the standing orders forbidding the use of any offensive term by a councillor in reference to any other member. Mr. Guiniven offered to withdraw his words and substitute “wise,” adding that the language used was that of the House of Representatives. "Well, we don’t want it used here,” said the Mayor.
