CIRCULAR TRAM ROUTE
MT. ALBERT SUGGESTION SANDRINGHAM EXTENSION Suggestion was made to the Transport Board this morning that the Sandringham tram extension be continued to the Mount Albert terminus, or taken along Vincent Road into Richardson Road, thus providing a circular route to the City. The Mount Albert Terminus Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association, which made the suggestion. commented that a circular route would provide a much-needed want in tha.t part of the district. Reporting the manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, said that the extension would involve considerable capital outlay, and revenue derived would be insufficient to pay capital charges, let alone working expenses. Circular routing of this kind was only justified when constructed in districts where there was a considerable population. He could not recommend the further extension of the Sandringham Road route as now suggested. The manager’s report was adopted.
