DAN DIRECT TT was the general opinion that when Dan Direct went to the post in a race over eight or ten furlongs, he would be handy at the finish and on this account ho was solidly supported on the final day of the Auckland relief meeting. The imported horse did not run as well as expected, but taking the heavy going into consideration, which was probably not in his favour, the roan horse could be excused for his failure. With solid tracks at the shorter distances Dan Direct may do a lot better in his next outings.
