LONDON, Tuesday. 1 MESSAGE from Corsica states that the commander of a French submarine, upon coming to the surface two miles from the coast, rubbed his eyes with amazement on seeing a girl swimming to the ship, waving her hand and calling in English: “May I come aboard and have a look round?” A hatchway was opened and the bather was charmingly welcomed and entertained. She proved to be the noted swimmer, Miss Rutter. She spent half an hour in the submarine and then dived from the conning tower and swam ashore, where she is spending a hoi iday.
