CONSISTENT BILLIARDS
McCONACHY STEADILY MAKES UP GROUND w MATCH AGAINST O’DONOGHUE At Saturday night’s session, the first half of the fortnight’s time-limit billiards match between Clark McConachy and E. J. O’Donoghue was concluded. McConachy has played consistent billiards for the week and his play is steadily improving as the game advances. His best break during the week was a fine 955, made mostly by the use of the pot-cannon at top of the table and nursery cannons. During the week’s play McConachy bas scored 26.155 points, and O’Donoghue 45,941, including 40,000 start.
RIFLE SHOOTING
The third shoot for the winter service trophy was fired by the Auckland City Rifle Club at Penrose 'on Saturday. The practices were application, rapid and snap-shooting at 300yds. Shooting conditions were only fair, and excepting the card returned by IT. Simmonds, who won easily from scratch, the scores were below the average. Simmonds won the spoon, and is now leading for. the trophy with 5 points, S. Griffiths, A. Sommerville and R. MeLeay being in second place with 3 each. With handicaps added, the scores are: H. Simmonds, 111; R. McLeay, 97; C. Robieson, 87; H. W. Cozens, 81; C. J. M. Clark, 78; C. Wright. 73; A. Sommerville. 71; and J. T. Hill, 60.
