SPEED RECORD ATTEMPTS
CONTROL OF NINETY-MILE BEACH CONSIDERATION PROMISED Sympathetic consideration o£ any application by the Auckland Automobile Association for the use of Ninety Mile Beach for any specified attempt on world land speed records has been promised by the Hon. J. B. Donald. Minister of Marine. A letter received by the council of the A.A.A. last evening stated that the application for the right to use the beach for speed tests by famous racing motorists had been considered. The Minister could not agree to give any club the sole right to use the beach. However, any application for a specified occasion would ho considered. when the conditions under which permission could be granted would be intimated.
