BRIGHT OUTLOOK
SPRING POSSIBILITIES GRAND SPIRIT IN NICE ORDER Three horses afo W. Gall's contribution to the Ellerslie tracks these days and all are going along satisfactorily in their training for a campaign in the new season. The fact that Grand Spirit was a dual winner at the Rotorua Jockey Club’s annual meeting invests her career with more interest than that of Lusoma or Stimulant, but their owner, Mr. F. W. Stonex, has faith in the other pair, too. and confidently expects them to win races either in the spring or the summer. One bad trait which has always stood against'Grand Spirit in the two-year-old scurrys has been her inability to begin, but she has a tendency for staying on strongly, and it is believed she will do well over a middle distance. Lusoma, a rising four-year-old. has been just over 12 months in work, but after showing speed on the tracks she went all to pieces. However, her present condition looks better than for some time, and as she is seemingly doing well theYe may be hope for her yet. Stimulant is a. neat type, bordering a bit on the small side. He has furnished really well lately. A better proposition for a maiden race would be hard to find at headquarters.
